The NEW
        P61 Rotor Bearing Plate
                               Expanding Tool

Now, you can tighten loose back bearings with ease!

Here are the tool kits components.         The housing and roller in proper relationship.
With the wear exhibited by well played horns and trombones over the years, here is the perfect way to tighten up the back bearing to fit tightly into the casing, once again.  Whether just from wear OR plating and refitting of the rotor into the casing; if the back bearing is spinning with the rotor, it isn't a bearing any more.  This new P61 tool allows you to refit the bearing into the casing without a lathe or other heavy machinery.  Insert the P61 housing securely into your N99 bench motor and then install the bearing disc snugly, as shown.  The tapered head of the retaining screw will center the bearing on the housing, keep it snug, but, do not over-tighten.  You will notice that the outside of the bearing plate is against the housing and that the inside is showing.  This is so that when you apply pressure to the outer edge of the bearing plate while the tool and bearing are spinning in the motor that the roller wheel pressure is directly on the outer edge of the bearing and keeps it straight and flat.  Do NOT place the roller into the reveal that is on some discs, keep it on the thicker part of the bearing.  Making the reveal material larger will NOT refit the disc.  Let it ALL expand together and try NOT to roll over the edge.  Keep the tool straight and on the thicker part as shown in above picture.  IT DOESN'T TAKE ALL THAT MUCH PRESSURE!!  Don't try to do it all at once!

Apply some pressure while the housing is spinning; keeping the roller straight with the housing and it will expand the outer edge a little.  Then, check and see how the fit is commencing (You can use dial calipers or other precision measuring device).  Plan on taking several tries, don't try and do the job all at once.  You can "dial in" on the fit and do a great job.  IF, you go too far, just put the bearing back into the housing and using a safe edged fine file (like our E29A) lightly dress the outer edge while it is spinning, for a tight fit.  In some cases, there is a step at the outer edge.  In this case you will have to use the file in the reveal, or step, for proper fit and you may have to use it to make the major diameter smaller too, if it won't fit in the valve cap.  Usually this is not necessary, but, be aware.  Keep in mind that if you don't overdo it, you won't have to correct it. So, proceed slowly.  As always, use with commonly accepted industrial safety procedures.
