      Woodwinds & Brasswinds

Dennis Bamber's 11 Man shop is complete

On the way back from the Denver meeting, we stopped off at the huge new "Woodwind & Brasswind" complex just north of and visible from I-80 near South Bend, Indiana, which is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year.  The shop's manager is a seasoned friend, Susan Shockey, formerly of Gallipolis, Ohio.  She has been with WW&BW about 18 years.  She gave us "the" tour of the 2,500 sq.ft. shop and introduced us to most of the 11 ww&bw repairmen. Great facilities; clean and neat and they are getting ready to add another 1,000 sq.ft. in the near future.  In addition to the musical instrument repairmen they have 5 or 6 string and electric repair personnel.  Here are some photos:

What's this?? A clean bench!!                 Here's Dan Knapp, flute repair and set-up.

This is a real clean and organized shop.    Soon, parts will be computer listed.

Here is brassman, Pete Kohnen.              Here is Sue, herself, in her office/shop.

Can you say, "ContraBass Bassoon?             What else? A 'South Bend" lathe!

Not everyone has one of these.
Sue holds a Patent on a 'fit-able' tuba mute.
