2 - ALL NEW
"Double Radii" Rollers
The small side of the New Z60-36A double roller can make Trumpet and Cornet stems (also called the
tail), the length of tubing between
the back bow of the bell and the first valve, like new; when used with the New
Z60-14D stem mandrel. The larger Z60-36B double roller for the larger
parts of the trumpet or cornet bell and the trombone stem (using the Z60-15 trombone mandrel that comes with the Z60, as standard
equipment) and larger tubes on other instruments, straight or tapered. You
also use the slender cornet and trumpet mandrels that come with the Z60 machine
for other areas on bells utilizing the different tapers and sizes. Fits right in the Z60-14 rod on approximately 2003 and newer dent machines.
See "Mod Rod"
for updating older machines or click UP (above) and click on and look at the "Z14 Interchangeable
Rod" page.
For Cornets, Trumpets & Trombones
or other similar sized tubing or contours.
Special radii for
everywhere on a bell taper.
Really good for ALL damage,
from mild to wild.

Here are the two rollers and the mandrel.
Here is Ralph Crone, who inspired us.
The Z60-36A on top, 36B on bottom. The Z60-14D mandrel shown by Ralph.
The 36A has #1 & #2, the 36B has #3 & #4.
These rollers work on all types horns.

Ralph shows how the Z60-36A roller and
Ralph's proto-type only has the #1
Z60-14D mandrel work together on the stem. & #4 radii, showing need for #2 & #3.

When Ralph Crone called a few weeks after getting his new Z60 dent machine, he wanted an
"easy to use"
roller and a special small diameter stem mandrel (See New Z60-14D stem mandrel
page) to fit his machine for the bell stems he was running up against.
(As you can see from the photos, Ralph also uses the NEW Z60S Bench Mount Stand.)
(BTW, Ralph himself took the pictures of his Z60 and the rollers in his shop.) Curtis and I had been working on a new flute roller,
which is similar sized in diameter,
so this was another case of "just good timing". The flute tool will be ready shortly and is much more involved, but that, as they say, is another story.
First, we did some research and made this mandrel the optimum universal size, then we
started on the roller. When we got the roller done for Ralph, it looked kind of odd, really off center. So, we put another
usable radius on it.
That worked really well, so we sent it to Ralph, along with the mandrel.
That roller turned out to be the prototype for both of these new rollers.
During the Free Saturday classes we have been holding for the last couple years, some of the
attendees were having a little trouble
working with the smaller diameter tubing, so we
chose two more, "in between" radii and now you can do most anywhere on a small
tube, from about 1/2" to about 1-1/2". Therefore, they work on
Trombone, Baritone, Euphonium, Alto horn and Flugal horn, or about anything else with
around this sized tubing, as well as the cornets and trumpets.
So, if you see Ralph, give him a big Thank you! His 76th birthday (May 7,'06) is pretty close coming.

These new Z60-36A and Z60-36B rollers are only $82.50 each.
The Z60-36A covers the stem area and the area from the
bell bow to about the first valve area on the bell.
Used with the Z60-14D New Stem Mandrel and the Z60-12 and Z60-13 mandrels, which
come with the machine when purchased as a complete unit.
The Z60-36B covers all around the valve area and from about the
3rd valve to the engraved area. Used on trombones from the
tuning slide tube all the way to the engraving, for "mouthpiece
dents", etc. Used with the above mentioned Z60-12 and Z60-13
standard mandrels and the standard Z60-15 trombone mandrel,
which is also included with the Z60 dent machine when purchased
as a
complete unit, as noted above.
