Z61-5 MandrelClamp
Home Up

Here are some more 'volkswagen changes'
that you may want to make.

The Z61-5 Mandrel Clamp on the top is approx. 35-40 years old.
The newer version is pictured with the NEW Z61-8 Nut and the Z61-1sleeve.

The other notable differences are: 1) A Larger diameter cinch bolt.
                                                               2) Two large diameter set bolts.
                                                                  3) Corners have beveled finish.

Every part of your Z60, Z61 an Z61E is replaceable if lost or damaged.  The Mandrel Clamp is a very important part of your Z61,Z61E base.  If you send in your old clamp we will re-machine it to New Specs as described above.  As  Z61-5U
Cost of this service is $58.50+s/h
(includes all machining, refurbishing, new bolts and washers.)

If, you would also like the
NEW Z61-8 Setting Nut, it is just $23.50 +s/h.
(The above parts make your base more secure and faster to adjust.)

Re-machining your Curved Rods:   It is also strongly urged that you have your Z61-1, -2, -3 rods re-machined along with your Z61-5 Clamp.  For the last 20 Years or so, the rods have been produced with two flat sides to keep them from sliding out of index, and to provide a pad for the set bolts to seat on.
By having the flats machined;  you can push harder and apply more pressure on the sides of the semi-circular rods and on the ball or wheel that you are using and thereby do a faster, more accurate and better job when using them.
The cost of this job is $37.50 per rod +s/h

(Both sides of each rod are machined and it will be cleaned up.)

From their date of introduction, all of these new parts have been STANDARD EQUIPMENT on Every NEW Z61 and Z61E Machine Base shipped.
